Countries over the last decade - Part III

Eight countries down and three countries that account for 16 previous ESC wins amongst them. Numbers 26-30 on the next page:

# 30 - France
[Averaged points: 51.6 points]

Five time winner and second of our top 4 countries sits at number 29 of this countdown. A lopsided list of ten
entries towards the bottom, but let's start with the good news:
  • 5th; Sandrine Francois - 2002
  • 8th; Patricia Kaas - 2009
And then;
  • 12th; Jessy Matador - 2010
  • 15th; Jonathan Cerada - 2004 and Amaury Vasilli - 2011
  • 18th; Louisa Baileche - 2003
  • 22nd; Virginie Pouchin - 2006 and Les Fetals Picards - 2007
  • 23rd; Ortal - 2005

# 29 - Ireland
[Averaged points: 51.86 points]

No seven Eurovision wins to hold Ireland up in the glory this decade. Terror decade for the Irish. but it isn't all doom - they had 3 good finalists and 3 bad ones:
The good:
  • 2003 - 11th with Mickey Harte
  • 2006 - 10th with Brian Kennedy
  • 2011 - 8th with Jedward
Bad news:
  • 2004 - 23rd - Chris Doran
  • 2007 - last - Dervish
  • 2010 - 23rd - Niamh Kavanaugh

# 28 - Spain
[Averaged points: 53.4 points]

The Spanish have faired marginally better than the fore mentioned French in the last decade. Again 10 entries in the 10 years, but they faired better. 2002-2004 were the Operation Triumph years and they were called this with good reason - all three songs were top ten entries. (Rosa - 7th; Beth - 8th, Ramon - 10th). When they dropped that show like a hot potato, so did their ESC fortunes.
  • 2005 and 2006 - 21st.
  • 2007 - 20th
  • 2008 - 17th
  • 2009 - 24th (2nd last)
  • 2010 - 15th
  • 2011 - 23rd

# 27 - Croatia
[Averaged points: 54.71 points]

While the 90s were great for Croatia, the last decade hasn't with no top ten results at all for their 7 finals appearances. Eleventh is their best result in 2002 and again in 2005. The 2006 performance by Severina provided a 12th place, 13th place in 2004, and 15th for 2003. The two most recent showings in 2008 and 2009 took out 21st and 18th respectively.

# 26 - Lithuania
[Averaged points: 57.6 points]

Astounding isnt it that Lithuania would rank higher than UK, Ireland, France and Spain - but here we are. Five times in the final - highest scorer being the Winners of 2006, followed by 19th in 2011, 21st in 2007 and 23rd in 2002 and 2009.

# 25 - Albania
[Averaged points: 64.8 points]

Albania burst onto the scene with a ditty that came 7th in 2004, but since then consistently 16th (2005, 2008, 2010). The only time they have not finished 16th was a 17th in 2009.
